Spirits giant Bacardi has announced it is to discontinue its Alkopop brands Bacardi Breezer and Bacardi Rigo. The move comes as consumer tastes change and the popularity of Alkopops declines
Bacardi Breezer was launched in 1992 and quickly became one of the best - selling Alkopops in the world. Bacardi Rigo was introduced in 1998 and also proved to be popular. However, in recent years, sales of Alkopops have declined as consumers have switched to other drinks, such as beer, wine, and spirits.
A Bacardi spokesperson said that the company had made the decision to discontinue Bacardi Breezer and Bacardi Rigo after a careful review of its portfolio. "We are confident that this decision will allow us to focus on our core brands and continue to meet the needs of our consumers."
Bacardi Breezer and Bacardi Rigo will be phased out of the market over the next few months. The company said that it is working with its distributors and retailers to ensure a smooth transition.
