Bucks sign guard Cameron Payne
Veteran guard adds depth to Milwaukee's backcourt
The Milwaukee Bucks have signed guard Cameron Payne to a one-year minimum deal, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Payne, 29, has played in 327 NBA games across eight seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Phoenix Suns.
The Bucks were in need of backcourt depth after trading away Patrick Beverley to the Philadelphia 76ers. Payne is a capable scorer and playmaker who can provide a spark off the bench.
In 50 games with the Suns last season, Payne averaged 8.3 points and 3.6 assists per game. He shot 44.1% from the field and 34.9% from three-point range.
Payne is a good fit for the Bucks' up-tempo style of play. He is a quick and athletic guard who can get to the rim and create opportunities for his teammates.
The Bucks are hoping that Payne can provide a boost to their bench and help them contend for a championship.
