Oasis reunion: Fans give their thoughts following Liam Gallagher announcement
Noel and Liam at odds over Oasis reunion
Liam Gallagher has announced a 30th anniversary tour where he will perform Oasis' debut album Definitely Maybe. The tour will launch on 28th May 2023 in Belfast and will visit Dublin, Glasgow, London, Knebworth Park and Manchester.
The announcement has led to speculation that an Oasis reunion could be on the cards, with fans at Reading and Leeds giving their thoughts to NME.
Fans divided
Some of the fans believe that Oasis could reunite.
- "I think they will probably do it eventually," said one fan.
- "They're both getting older now and they might realise that life is too short," said another.
However, other fans are more sceptical.
- "I don't think they'll ever get back together," said one fan.
- "They're too different now," said another.
Noel and Liam's relationship
Noel and Liam Gallagher have had a strained relationship for many years. The two brothers have traded barbs in the media on several occasions and have not performed together since Oasis split in 2009.
In a recent interview, Noel said that he would be open to an Oasis reunion, but only if it was "on his terms".
"I'm not going to do it just for the money," he said. "I'm not going to do it just to make the fans happy.
Oasis reunion: A long shot?
Given the history between Noel and Liam Gallagher, an Oasis reunion seems unlikely. However, the fact that Liam is performing Definitely Maybe in its entirety on his upcoming tour suggests that he is at least open to the idea of working with his brother again.
Only time will tell if an Oasis reunion will ever happen, but the fans who spoke to NME at Reading and Leeds are certainly keeping their fingers crossed.
