Helena Carr, the longtime wife of former New South Wales premier and foreign minister Bob Carr, has been declared brain dead after suffering an aneurysm while on a trip to Vienna.

Born Anne Helena John in September 1946, Helena Carr was a successful businesswoman and a dedicated supporter of her husband's political career. She passed away on October 25, 2023, at the age of 77.

In a statement, Bob Carr announced his wife's passing with heavy hearts. He described her as "a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother" who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

More than 600 mourners gathered at St Andrew's Cathedral on November 10 to pay their final respects to Helena Carr. The service was attended by prominent figures from politics, business, and the community.
