Nipsey Hussle's Killer Sentenced to 60 Years in Prison
Convicted of First-Degree Murder and Two Counts of Attempted Murder
Rapper's Death Ruled a Premeditated Act
Los Angeles, California - A Los Angeles judge has sentenced Eric R. Holder Jr. to 60 years in prison for the fatal shooting of rapper Nipsey Hussle in 2019. Holder was convicted of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder in connection with the incident.
On March 31, 2019, Holder approached Hussle outside his clothing store, Marathon Clothing, and engaged him in a brief argument. Minutes later, Holder returned with a handgun and opened fire, striking Hussle multiple times. Hussle died at the scene at the age of 33.
During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence that Holder had planned the shooting days in advance. They argued that Holder was motivated by jealousy and anger towards Hussle, who he believed had disrespected him.
The jury deliberated for two days before reaching a guilty verdict in July 2022. Holder faces life in prison, but the judge did not sentence him to the maximum penalty.
The sentencing marks the end of a high-profile case that has attracted national attention. Nipsey Hussle was a beloved figure in the Los Angeles community and his death was met with an outpouring of grief.
